Homebuyer Financial Assistance Fund

Help support Many first-time homebuyers who qualify to purchase an SCLT home struggle to have the cash needed for closing costs or the down payment. We understand. The SCLT Board has established a fund to help such buyers. housing and community initiatives. Every donation makes a significant impact.

The process for requesting assistance is to first apply and complete the steps of Phase 1: Qualifications and Phase 2: Income Qualified.

If at this time, you are in need of a modest amount of financial assistance, please write to the SCLT Administrator and describe your need. The Administrator will bring the matter to the Board for consideration.

Meet with SCLT Staff

After completing the SCLT application, an interview is held to determine your understanding of the program and your expectations of homeownership. The SCLT Staff will provide a SCLT Orientation. An AHFC Finally Home™ certificate is required. AHFC Finally Home™ Certification is achieved through taking their free 6-hour Homebuyer Education Class via home study. After You Buy

Work with SCLT Staff

After you are settled in your home, SCLT staff will be available to help your home purchase succeed over the coming years, until you are ready to sell. When that time comes, we will help you then, too. We’ll make sure you have access to classes that will help you succeed. We are also here to help whenever you need us - just reach out and we will assist you with whatever we can or connect you with someone who can.

Lenders & Resources

A lender will help you determine whether you meet the SCLT income requirements; determine whether you qualify for a mortgage; provide information on financial assistance available; provide information on the Sitka Community Land Trust program; and provide you with a pre-qualification letter.
